Although "spiking the punch" or "slipping her a Mickey" may sound old fashioned, there is evidence that colourless, tasteless and odourless drugs are given to unknowing victims.
Most often, a man will befriend a woman ( or vice versa) at the bar of the hotel; the two will then continue to the suite where one will spike the other persons drink and then rape, indecently assault or rob them.
This DOES happen at the hotels and other drinking places.
The drug, Flunitrazepam marketed as ROHYPNOL is commonly used. It readily dissolves, and once in a solution, is colourless, odourless and tasteless. The predominant clinical manifestations are drowsiness and anterograde amnesia. Due to the amnesial effects of Flunitrazepam, historical clues of the rape/robbery event are difficult to obtain.
